Before you can initiate your pulse survey sequence, you'll of course need people to survey! Our software makes it easy to import your parents, students and/or employees (depending on which survey modules are active for your school).
To prepare and import your data, follow these simple steps:
Download our CSV template, or prepare your own spreadsheet file to include First Name, Last Name, and E-mail Address and/or Cell Phone Number. (The cell phone number is only required if you plan on using the text messaging feature to send invitations – which we highly recommend!). You will need to prepare a separate sheet for each respondent group (parents, students and/or employees) you plan on surveying.
Export your list as a CSV file
Log in to ParentPulse and click on the Parents, Students or Employees tab (depending on which group you're wanting to import)
Click Import
Either drop your data file on the import area or click to "browse and select" your file
Map the columns of your spreadsheet file to the corresponding ParentPulse data columns, then click Next
Review the Import Summary and click Import when you're ready to complete the process (if the Import Summary reveals errors, you might need to reformat or fix some of your data, and re-import the file)
Remember, you can always quickly add people (without having to import a new file) by using the "Quick Add" functionality (see below). You can also edit, delete or deactivate people by clicking on the "View/Edit" button next to any person (see below).
As a reminder, each individual will be surveyed one time per cycle and will have 14 days to complete the survey. If we have only the e-mail address for a respondent, we will reach out twice (if they don't submit the survey after the first invitation). If we have a cell phone number, we will add one text message invitation as well. Parents who have multiple children enrolled in your school will only receive a single invitation – but they will have the opportunity to provide different responses to specific survey questions for each child (should they wish).
If you're a current ParentPulse partner and you're uploading a NEW list, the final step in the import process will allow you to automatically deactivate any individuals who are no longer part of the school community – this prevents them from continuing to receive survey invitations, but retains their data for archival and comparison purposes!
