Tagging Comments in ParentPulse

Tagging is a powerful way to organize, manage, and make sense of the feedback you receive through ParentPulse. Whether you're reviewing parent responses or diving into suggestions from your students and employees, tags help you understand your qualitative data even better.

What Are Tags?

Tags are custom labels you can assign to comments across your survey modules. Think of them like folders or sticky notes — they help you group similar responses, flag key themes, and track recurring topics over time.

Who Can Use Tags?

Any school using ParentPulse can use tags. If your school has multiple active survey modules (like Parents, Students, and Employees), you can assign tags to specific modules when you create them. This makes it easy to keep your comments page clean, organized, and relevant to your admin.

Creating and Customizing Tags

When creating a tag, you’ll be prompted to:

  • Give your tag a name

  • Assign it to one or more modules

  • Choose a color from the palette to help visually organize your tags

Already have tags in your library? By default, existing tags are active across all modules — but you can easily edit or delete them to fine-tune your setup.

Common Use Cases for Tagging

Here are a few examples of how schools are using tags effectively:

  • Track Trends Over Time: Use tags like “Homework Concerns” or “Program Suggestions” to quickly spot patterns in feedback.

  • Follow Up on Issues: Tag comments with each admin’s name so it’s clear who’s following up on specific feedback, questions, and/or concerns.

  • Organize by Topic: Group comments by theme — “Communication,” “Facilities,” “Curriculum,” “Athletics,” etc.

  • Support Strategic Planning: Tag comments related to future goals — like “Strategic Plan Input” or “Enrollment Feedback.”

Make It Your Own

Tagging is flexible and designed to adapt to your school’s needs. Start small with a few key tags, and refine your system as your team reviews feedback.
