Quiet Periods for Thoughtful Survey Scheduling

The Quiet Periods feature allows you more control over the timing of your survey invitations, ensuring that communications align with your school’s schedule and priorities. Whether you want to prevent invitations from being sent on weekends, holidays, or specific dates, Quiet Periods give you the flexibility to manage the timing of your surveys.

How to Use Quiet Periods

  1. Navigate to Settings

    • Go to the Settings page in your ParentPulse account.

    • Look for the Quiet Periods section below Notification Settings.

  2. Blocking Weekends

    • If you want to prevent invitations from being sent on Saturdays and/or Sundays, simply check the box next to those days.

    • Example: If you are a Christian school and would prefer for respondents to not be notified on Sundays, check the box next to Sunday to block all invitations on that day. You can extend this to Saturday as well to maintain a Monday–Friday schedule.

  3. Blocking Major Holidays

    • To block invitations on major holidays, check the box next to Major Holidays.

    • You can view the list of holidays included by hovering over the tooltip.

  4. Blocking Custom Dates

    • If your school has specific dates when you’d rather surveys not be sent (e.g. when sending out important announcements or re-enrollment information), you can block them by:

      • Checking the box next to Custom Dates.

      • Clicking the Add button.

      • Selecting the desired date from the calendar.

⚠️ Important Notes

  • Quiet Periods Do Not Extend Your Survey Timeline
For example, if you’re running a 90-day survey cycle, it will still complete within 90 days. Invitations will be spread across the remaining active days.

  • Pausing Surveys for Extended Breaks
If you need to pause surveys for several consecutive days (e.g., spring break or Christmas vacation), use the Survey Builder to pause the entire survey cycle instead of setting Quiet Periods. This will extend the completion date of your survey.
