Enhancements to the Survey Builder Tool
We’re thrilled to announce several new features in the Survey Builder tool, designed to help you gather deeper, more nuanced feedback from parents, students, and employees. These updates will enhance your ability to capture open-ended, narrative feedback and offer greater flexibility in how surveys are structured. Let’s explore the new features!
Benchmark Questions with Comment Options
Our benchmark questions have always been an excellent way to collect quantitative data on key areas of your school. Now, you can uncover the "why" behind the scores by enabling comments for benchmark questions. Here’s how it works:
Add Comments to Benchmark Questions
After adding the benchmark question to your survey:
Click the three dot menu icon to the right of the benchmark question.
Select the new Comments option from the menu.
A speech bubble icon will appear next to the question, indicating that respondents can provide additional feedback.
Enable Comments for Custom Questions
For custom rating or multiple-choice questions, you can enable the option for respondents to add comments. For example:
A question about the hot lunch program could allow respondents to provide more context by adding comments.
When parents or other respondents view the survey, they’ll see an Add Comment button underneath the question, enabling them to share additional insights.
View and Manage Comments
In ParentPulse, additional feedback from these comments will be visible on the Comments page.
You can easily reply to or forward comments, just as you would with other feedback.
Free-Form Responses for Multiple-Choice Questions
Another exciting enhancement is the ability to include a free-form response option for multiple-choice questions. Here’s how it works:
Enable the “Free-Form Responses” Option
When creating a custom multiple-choice question (e.g., “Which mascot name would you prefer?”), check the box to Include “Other” option that allows for free-form responses.
This allows respondents to type their own suggestions or answers if they select “Other” in their survey.
Dashboard Visibility
Responses entered in the text field will initially be hidden but you can enable them to appear alongside the other quantitative data on the Dashboard, giving you a complete view of feedback.
Flexibility in Survey Structure: Moving Custom Questions
Previously, custom questions were automatically displayed near the end of surveys. With this update, you can now:
Reorganize Custom and Benchmark Questions
Merge custom questions with benchmark questions to create a more cohesive survey.
Position custom questions higher in the survey or immediately after specific benchmark questions for better flow and context.
Unlock Deeper Insights
These enhancements make it easier than ever to capture nuanced feedback and create surveys that meet your specific needs. We’re excited to see how you use these updates to gain valuable insights from your community!
