How to Import Your People
Before you can start your pulse survey sequence, you need people to survey! ParentPulse makes it easy to import your parent, student, and/or employee information, depending on the active survey modules for your school.
Here’s a step by step on how to import the people you’re going to survey:
Prepare Your Spreadsheet
Download our CSV template or create your own spreadsheet. Include the following columns:
First Name
Last Name
E-mail Address
Cell Phone Number (optional, but required for text message invitations)
Create a separate sheet for each respondent group you plan to survey (parents, students, or employees).
Export as a CSV File
Save or export your spreadsheet as a CSV file.
Login to ParentPulse
Navigate to the appropriate tab for the group(s) you’re importing: Parents, Students, or Employees.
Start the Import Process
Click the "Import" button.
Drop your CSV file onto the import area or use the "Browse and Select" option to upload your file.
Map Your Data Columns
Match the columns from your file to the corresponding ParentPulse data fields.
Click "Next" to proceed.
Review the Import Summary
Check for errors in the Import Summary.
If issues are detected, reformat or correct your data and re-import the file.
When ready, click "Import" to complete the process.
Additional Options
Quick Add: Add new parents, students, or employees quickly without importing a new file.
Edit, Delete, or Deactivate: Use the "View/Edit" button next to any individual to update their information or deactivate them.
Survey Reminders and Frequency
Respondents are surveyed once per cycle and have 14 days to complete the survey.
Email Invitations: If only an email is provided, we will reach out twice (if the survey isn’t submitted after the first invitation).
Text Invitations: If a cell phone number is provided, one text message invitation will be sent in addition to the email reminders.
Parents with Multiple Children: They will receive a single invitation but can provide different responses to specific survey questions for each child, if they want to!
Deactivating Individuals
When uploading a new list, the final step in the import process will allow you to automatically deactivate individuals that are no longer part of the school community. This step ensures they don’t receive future survey invitations while retaining their data for archival and comparison purposes.
